Describe useful images for screen readers

Why this matters

Screen readers speak text aloud and need descriptions for meaningful images. Alt text is the short description stored with an image.

What to do

1. In your page editor, give meaningful images short, useful alt descriptions. Explain what the image contributes, rather than just saying it is an image.
2. For images that are purely decorative, use alt="". An empty description lets a screen reader skip the decoration; a missing description is different.
3. What to tell your web developer: Please add useful alt descriptions to meaningful images and alt="" to decorative images. Check images added by the theme as well as those in the page editor.

How to check the fix

Run the checker again and look for zero images missing alt text. Review descriptions yourself too; this check does not judge their quality.
