Use one main homepage heading

Why this matters

One clear main heading helps visitors and search engines understand the page. In page code, this heading is called h1.

What to do

1. Choose the main heading that best describes your homepage. In your editor, set it as Heading 1.
2. Use lower heading levels, such as Heading 2, for sections underneath it. Keep exactly one h1 on the homepage.
3. What to tell your web developer: Please make the homepage use exactly one h1 for its main heading and use suitable lower heading levels for the other sections.

How to check the fix

Publish the page and run the checker again. It should report exactly one main heading.
