Encryption

Turn on a secure HTTPS connection

Why this matters

HTTPS scrambles information between your site and its visitors. Without it, someone on the same network could read or change the page.

What to do

  1. Open your hosting settings and look for HTTPS or SSL/TLS. These names refer to the secure connection and its certificate, which confirms your site's identity.
  2. Enable a certificate for your domain and turn on automatic renewal. Many hosts include a free certificate.
  3. What to tell your web developer: Please enable HTTPS with a valid certificate for this domain, then make sure the homepage and its files load securely.

How to check the fix

Open your address starting with https://. There should be no certificate warning. Run the checker again and look for a pass for HTTPS.
