Website checks for trades: plumbers, electricians and builders

Make it easy for customers to check your service area, see your work and request a quote.

Put service and location first

Someone with a leak wants to know whether you cover their area and how to call. Someone planning building work may want examples of similar jobs before asking for a quote. Use the page title to identify your trade and area, and keep your telephone number and availability easy to find.

Keep quote requests usable

Enquiry forms often collect an address, a description of the job and photographs. HTTPS protects information travelling between the customer and your site. If your site collects personal details, data-protection law applies. Try the form yourself, including photo uploads, and confirm that the enquiry reaches the right inbox; the checker does not send enquiries.

Make the site useful at the job location

Customers may be using a phone beside a broken appliance or outside a property. The reachability and response-speed checks help identify a homepage that fails or takes too long to arrive. The viewport check looks for the phone sizing setting. Test that your call link and quote form are easy to use on a small screen as well.

Protect the identity used for quotes

Quotes and invoices often continue by email after the first website visit. SPF and DMARC help receiving mail services recognise messages pretending to come from your domain. Ask your email provider to include every genuine sender, including your enquiry form, before tightening the policy. These checks cannot verify an invoice or a customer's payment instructions.

Checks to start with

The checker reads the public homepage, its connection and public email records. Use the results alongside your own checks of the pages and features your customers rely on.
